On October 21st, I had the opportunity to participate in the ScotiaBank Toronto Waterfront Marathon in order to raise funds and awareness for Threshold Ministries.

Having run many marathons and long distance events I am always surprised by how nervous I get before I run one. The question is why? Am I afraid I will not finish? I had run 36km in training, so I knew I would finish. Was I afraid I would not run as fast as I wanted? I was injured last year and could not run, so I was thankful that I was running at all. Whatever it was, I am thankful that we are healthy enough to run.

Kathy, myself, and Jim Paterson (the late Don Paterson's son) all had great races. Kathy ran the half Marathon in 2:10, and Jim and I ran the full marathon in 3:45 and 3:52 respectively. I was cold at the start but warmed up as the race progressed, and the wind was not too strong against us which helped.

Thanks to all of you who so generously support our goal of raising funds for Threshold. We managed to raise over $3000.00. Thank You.
