Threshold House News
God is doing amazing things through your generous donations and prayers as we seek to provide a Christian community and transitional housing for men who have completed a 12-step rehabilitation program. We walk with men who choose to live addiction-free to see those once bound by addictions set free by the power of Christ. This is accomplished by building knowledge and experience of Christ and recovery, as well as establishing individual networks of support around each member of our fellowship.

Recovery Nights – Life’s Healing Choices & Inner Healing
David Bown has been leading the Life’s Healing Choices program during our weekly Threshold House Recovery Nights. He and his team have been taking the men through steps to help them deal with hurts, hang-ups and habits. We alternate this relapse prevention program with fun nights, BBQs, and special guest presentations. This program is a benefit to the men who live at Threshold House as well as those in the community. We have also added weekly Inner Healing classes led by Greg Rasmussen, who has been working in the local recovery community for several years. We look forward to reaching many more people and providing quality resources, as well as sharing hope.

Partnership with Teen Challenge
We are excited about a developing partnership between Threshold House and Teen Challenge (TC), which is benefiting both organizations and our respective programs. Our Threshold House residents are encouraging the TC residents to persevere and graduate from their rehabilitation program while showing them what life can be like after rehab. We currently have three men who have come to us from TC, as our program specializes in filling the gap between rehabilitation and reintegration.

We recently invited the TC men to attend our Recovery Night and BBQ, and our men were invited to play paintball with the TC team. Completing a rehabilitation program is the first step in their journey, and navigating life after rehab is their second step. We are  grateful that Threshold House is helping to close the revolving door between rehab and relapse, and our partnership with Teen Challenge is just another way we are working to share hope and give hope in the name of Jesus.

Working with Employment Counsellors & Workplace Connections
When a new resident is accepted into the Threshold House program, one of their first steps is to connect with a social development and/or employment counsellor. Through New Brunswick’s Workplace Connections program, we have received grants to employ four men at Threshold House.

Travis, who graduated from the Village of Hope rehabilitation program, will be attending New Brunswick Community College in September. He is helping with the renovations at Threshold House through the grant program. Not only is he doing an amazing job with the renovations, but he is also gaining valuable work experience for his resume, an employer who can provide a reference in the future, new confidence in his work, and a strong work ethic.

James, who just graduated from Teen Challenge, is using the Workplace Connections grant to earn enough money to cover his portion of his NBCC tuition. The employment counsellor was also able to help him connect with the Training Skills and Development program, which will help him cover the bulk of the tuition.

These programs can be challenging to understand and locate independently, and Jeremy Robinson, our Addiction Services Coordinator at Threshold House, has been helping the men navigate these programs and make the right connections. Finding work and pursuing an education are significant steps forward in establishing their future.

Thank you for your generous donations and consistent prayer as we spend each day serving the men who God has sent to us through the ministry of Threshold House. We couldn’t do this without you, and we look forward to the days and months ahead as we work to bring people from all walks of life into a living relationship with Jesus Christ and His people.

Sincerely Yours in Jesus,
