Threshold’s Moncton chaplaincy ministry, Fire Watch exists to build relationships and assist those impacted by addiction, incarceration, poverty and violence. We desire to help bring hope to individuals who are making the transition from incarceration to life outside of prison. Fire Watch is devoted to walk beside ex-offenders who want Christian support in their lives.

Fall 2024 Update

As a chaplain, I feel overwhelmed and in awe at what the Lord is capable of doing when someone opens the door to Him and they get the support and guidance required. For example, I met Alex (name changed for privacy) twelve years ago. He could have best been described as a street thug, petty criminal, gang enforcer, and on the wrong track. Yet slowly but surely, he has come a long way in his personal growth. He is now drug and crime-free, works full time at the local shelter he used to live at, and is studying Christian Mission and Evangelism at a local university. He wants to be a jail chaplain, helping younger men whose paths are headed in the wrong direction.

Recently, Psalm 40:1-2 has been on my heart:

I waited patiently for the Lord,
he turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and the mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
Psalm 40:1-2 (NIV)

As with Alex (name changed for privacy), those who ask for help shall receive; seek and you shall find. It’s all right in front of us if we clear our hearts and minds.

Pray that God will bring us more people who have taken the wrong paths but want help and change.

Pray as we bring hope and engage in community in Moncton.
